Studio Relics of Ernie Barnes

Both Limited Edition and Open Edition prints from Legacy in Color: The Studio Relics of Ernie Barnes are available for acquisition.

Limited Edition prints are individually numbered, hand-signed, and embossed with the Legacy in Color seal. Each edition is produced in a fixed quantity and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, ensuring provenance and long-term collectible value.

Open Edition prints are available in select sizes and paper types for general sale and educational display. These prints are unnumbered but produced to the same archival quality, offering collectors and admirers an accessible way to own a piece of Ernie Barnes’ studio history.

Limited Editions Policy

To preserve the integrity, authenticity, and long-term value of each print, Legacy in Color maintains two distinct categories of reproductions derived from the original studio materials and paint tubes of artist Ernie Barnes.

Limited Editions

Each Limited Edition print is produced in a fixed, hand-numbered series (for example, 1/25, 2/25). These prints are signed and authenticated by Erin Barnes, daughter of Ernie Barnes, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Once the numbered edition is complete, no additional prints of that same size, paper type, or format will ever be produced. These editions are intended for collectors, museums, and institutional acquisitions.

Open Editions

Open Edition prints are produced without numbering and are identified as Open Edition on both the print and accompanying materials. These versions may differ in size, finish, or paper type and are created for educational programs, exhibition display, and general sale. Open Editions allow the work to remain accessible while preserving the exclusivity and value of the Limited Edition series.

Statement of Transparency

Legacy in Color retains the right to issue Open Edition prints or educational reproductions of any image included in the limited series, provided that such prints are clearly labeled as Open Edition and maintain distinction from numbered works.

All edition records are carefully maintained to ensure provenance and authenticity.
